Hi.
first of all… thank you for a great plugin!
I got 2 questions if you don’t mind.
1. I have set the form to show at the bottom but the quick jump doesn’t seem so recognize the page. When i click on it it leads me to the homepage in form of http://www.website.com/#guestbookform and not http://www.website.com/page/#guestbookform
i’ve seen that the url can be set in dmsguestbook.php manually but is there a way to set it within the options page in admin? Did i missed something?
2. The Error and Success Messages are showing on top of the entries as well as on top of the form. Is there a way to have them only displayed once?

1. Is there a possibility to enter “Leave message” in national (cyrillic, rusian) language? Now I enter – and it breaks all the code, none part of the guestbook shows, except header.
2.Is there a possibility to turn off html sanitizing? I have a huge number of records made using html, now many of them lok ugly
3. Do you plan adding “answer” feature? Now I ned to edit every message and add my answer to a feedback by hand, directly in a record …

dmsguestbook.css is writable, but nothing changes when I try to change the size (which is 80% by the way in pt.

It’s could be a problem with your theme. Change it to the default and try again.

Dafür müsstest du das widget.php umschreiben.
In der Zeile 134 beginnt die Datenbank Abfrage, diese könntest du benutzen um an die Gästebuch Daten zu gelangen, welche du dann mit irgendeiner Formatierung an deine Sidebar bindest.

wunderbares Plugin, was auch schon mal bei uns lief….
Nur leider habe ich es ein paar mal versucht zu aktivieren und immer wieder eine weiße Seite bekommen, was tun?
Andere Plugins abgeschaltet, kein Erfolg, nur eben wenn ich DMSGuestbook 1.12.1 deaktiviere, läuft die Seite wieder?!?!

Ich habe eine ungewöhnliche Frage, welche mir nach stundenlangem surfen im Internet nicht beantwortet werden konnte. Wie kann ich zwei page id’s eintragen?
Ich bin ein ziemlicher Newbie und habe folgendes Problem: WordPress, DMSGuestbook (was übrigens spitze ist
und Gengo installiert. Gengo ist ein bilingual Plugin für meine englisch/japanische Seite. Eine Page “Guestbook” in englisch habe ich angelegt und die page_id bei DMS eingetragen. Da meine japanischen Besucher aber auch zugreifen können, habe ich eine zweite page “Guestbook (japanisch) erstellt. Das Gästebuch wird dann mit japanisch und englischen Texten gefüllt. Im Moment sehen meine japanischen Kollegen kein Gästebuch (logisch).
Wäre froh wenn mir jemand einen Tip geben könnte..

Das setzen von zwei Page ID’s ist nicht möglich, DMSGuestbook läuft nur im Single Modus.
Ich lass mir diesbezüglich mal was einfallen, vielleicht in einer späteren Version

and there for ya could just import this in comments php>>

i did try to import it…..
sofar it does show the smilies but i can’t klik on them…

I’ve never tested a smilies plugin with DMSGuestbook.
DMSGuestbook support the WordPress built-in smilies well if these are activated.
Otherwise, you could add new smillies in wp-include/function.php.
Search the function: “smilies_int” in the line 1861 and add your own smilies shortcut. The smilies image folder will be found under wp-include/images/smilies.
After then, you could set all smilies images on the top your guestbook page with a description how to use it.
Use this at your own risk, make a copy of your function.php and be careful.
Attention: After a WordPress update all changes would be lost!

Du brauchst aber nur das captcha.php unter captcha zu ersetzen, dann sollte es bei dir wieder gehen.

I’ve been trying to set upp your guestbook on my website. The plugin is installed and activated, the page ID is right and the database is ready.
But the guestbook still can’t be seen. I’m using wordpress 2.6.3.
Is the plugin incompateble with this version of wordpress?

DMSGuestbook ist compatible with WP 2.6.3.
- Did you set a page (not post) id in your DMSGuestbook admin panel?
- Is the status of your guestbook page on public?
- Did you change the template to the default one. (Some templates makes problem)
- Did you de-select all plugins except the DMSGuestbook?

I am trying to resolve a problem, but I could not find any help yet. I have a test blog up and running (WP 2.6.5) and since a few days, I get this message while posting a new entry to the guestbook:

Thanks for your quick reply! Yeah, it looks like it. But then, WordPress is working fine. I can use all features such as posting new articles and so on. Other plugins work fine too. PHPmyAdmin is working aswell. What seems strange to me is that the guestbook has been working.
I deleted the plugin and reinstalled it again, but it did not change anything. Where can I check if the guestbook has access to the database?

- Do you use DMSGuesbook 1.12.1?
- Was this problem occur after upgading to WordPress 2.6.5 or later?
- Do you see other guestbook datas on your guestbook site? (if yes, you have read access to you database)
- Is the database user: “wwwrun” set in your wp-config.php? (Do you log in your phpMyAdmin panel with this user?)

- Yes, I use DMSGuestboot 1.12.1
- No, the problem is not related to a WP upgrade.
- Yes, I can see the entries previously posted
- I googled wwwrun and this seems to be Apache. This is not my DB user. The DB user in wp-config.php is a different one. The same one of phpMyAdmin. This user works in order to connect to MySQL. But as soon I try writing a new guestbook entry, the connection is not made with the mysql user, but with the user wwwrun (Apache).
When I try to think when the problem started, I think it’s when I restored the settings of DMSGuestbook… What I could do now is to completly drop wp_dmsguestbook and in wp_options all the entries done by DMSGuestbook and see if it helps.
Or do you think this could be related to file permissions?

I don’t think so, the file permission hasn’t related with this issue.
- Did you have also problems with the DMSGuestbook admin panel? Could you saved any entries?
- Did you downloaded the whole DMSGuestbook from the server again?
You could install the xampp.org on your local machine, copy the WordPress and DMSGuestbook on this webserver and try it again.

I’m enjoying using your plugin, which works perfectly. I have a feature request, however: I’d like to add extra fields to the guestbook and change the names of some others. I’m finding that people tend to use it as a chat room, and I’d like to make several fields obligatory, like:
1. Name
2. Dates visited the center (watopot.org)
3. Testimonial
4. Show my email? (Toggle “yes” or “no”)
I’d be very happy to be able to do those things!

Yes (and thanks for the guestbook post). It looks like there was an incompatibility with the wp-cache plugin. I added /guest-book/ (the page slug for the guestbook page) to the list of exclusions in wp-cache and it’s working fine now. Hope that helps others! Maybe DMSguestbook could call wp-cache to expire the relevant page when a new guestbook entry is added/deleted/approved.

The input field for url on DMSGuestbook is limited to 50 chars length.
You could expand this with a tool like phpmyadmin.
Look out for the url field in wp_dmsguestbook and change this.

Great plugin! Installation and setup went smoothly. The only thing that doesn’t seem to work is the widget. I cannot drag-and-drop it to the sidebar. It’s there, but I cannot move it. Am I doing something wrong?

Try to deactivate the “accessibility mode” in “Appearance -> Widget”, that could solve the problem.
Did you tried to drag-and-drop the widget with the Chrome browser?

1. why is it that im receiving a prompt of “Wrong letter-number combination” when im using the captcha image? when in fact i am typing the correct combination?

1.) Use reCAPTCHA if you have problems with captcha image.
2.) Don’t overwrite the dmsgustbook.css manually. Change your css setting in “DMSGuestbook -> Guestbook settings -> CSS”.
3.) Tell your questions about DMSGuestbook 1.17.1 here.

I use wordpres 3.01 and cover-WP theme. I am building my site currently. I installed DMS and have 2 pb:
1- the DMS widget does not appear into the WP widget list???Any idea why?

Hi daniel, new question maybe more tricky. if you check my sidebar you will see different widget including yours (named in french “les témoignages”) and other ones named “les commentaires” (= recent comments) and sondage (=poll). I noticed that there is a slight difference between the style of your widget and the 2 others : You will see that yours is lacking the little dashed red separator between each entry as well as a little bullet point in front of each of the entry. I don’t know where this difference comes from.? I was not successful in trying to solve this, it is a detail but it is annoying me strongly. Any idea what i could do to fix it? Maybe coding something in your widget but where and what? Thanks a lot in advance. Sylvain

There is a way to change the whole DMSGuestbook widget design.
Go to “Appearance -> Widget -> DMSGuestbook widget” and edit the HTML/CSS code in the “Header”, “Data” and “Footer” section.

I have recently installed the DMSGuestbook on its own page and it works fine.
However, the DMSGuestbook widget (version 2.50) is installed, but it will not drag over the the sidebar from the ‘Available Widgets’ list, although it is listed.
I’m using WordPress 3.1.1 and the Atahualpa theme

Thanks for a very good plugin.
I need to have two separate styles in a theme that we develop (light and dark).
I have read your answers about css above (“not change the css file directly, but in the options..”). However, this is not an option in our case with two (or more) styles for the theme.
Is there a way to turn off the possibility to change the css in the admin option and/or “force” the plugin to read from a one or more css files instead.
As you know, deleting or changing the write permissions to the dmsguestbook.css file, and include our our custom css in, for instance, dark.css and light.css does not work since the system then reads the settings from the DB..

You can add your own css file in the dmsguestbook code.
Open admin.php, search “/* add css to header */” and replace your own css file instead of
